HEP Workshop in Valparaíso, Chile Dear Colleague, This is the second announcement of a week-long international workshop on “High Energy Physics in the LHC Era” to be held at the Technical University Federico Santa Maria in Valparaiso, Chile, January 4-10. For more information and registration, please visit the workshop website at www.fis.utfsm.cl/hep2012. This workshop, like previous ones in Valparaiso, aims to bring together young and senior scientists, theorists and experimentalists to review recent progress in the High Energy Physics. The program of the workshop will address a broad range of topics covering the main areas of high-energy particle and nuclear physics, and several topics of current interest: recent LHC and Tevatron experimental results; Dark Matter searches; Neutrino physics; High-Energy QCD; Heavy ion collisions; phenomenology of AdS/CFT; astroparticles, and other topics. As a special addition, directly following will be a 2-day ANDES workshop (Agua Negra Deep Experiment Site), concerning the new South American research facilities between Chile and Argentina. The additional ANDES workshop will discuss planned research projects in “underground physics” as well as political issues surrounding the construction of the site. January is a beautiful month in Valparaíso, and a South American summer is a great respite from winter, and beach views from the university present a nice backdrop for the workshop. For those interested in extending their trip, the New Year´s celebration offers the continent´s largest fireworks display, and Chile is full of attractions for the adventurous and historically minded tourist. Registrations are now open on the workshop website www.fis.utfsm.cl/hep2012. While there is no official deadline for registration, we request that you register as soon as possible. We strongly recommend that participants arrange their travel plans early, as January-February is the high season for tourism in Chile, and the price of international flights will increase as we near the holidays. We are looking forward to your positive response, and meeting you in Valparaiso. With kind regards, The organizing committee
